My name is Devan, this is my fiancé, Trey, and front and center is our fur baby, Emmy Lou. We’re so thrilled you stopped by Eating with Emmy Lou! If she saw you in person, Emmy would give you a million kisses and booty shakes.
Emmy is a Black Lab/Bernese Mountain Dog mix who was born in December 2015. When we brought her home, she was only six tiny pounds… and now she is almost 90! We love her to pieces, which is good because we never predicted she would be this big of a handful. She’s spunky, sassy, and sweet as can be – and we’re smitten.
When I was trying to brainstorm with my family/friends/coworkers about what to call a food blog (if I started one), nothing was sticking at first. Then we realized including Emmy in the blog would be the only way to accurately describe our lives! Emmy demands attention, whether she is being naughty or loving. She’s extremely curious and is always willing to taste test puppy-friendly food, such as this leaf of basil that she stole off of the counter.
Not that she would ever get into something she isn’t supposed to.
Much like motherhood to Emmy, cooking is something I love, but I’m mostly learning along the way. My goal is to make meals for Trey and myself that are healthy most of the time, decadent sometimes, and delicious all of the time – all while being quick to prepare, easy to clean up, affordable, and exciting for me but not too out-of-the-box for Trey. Which can be overwhelming and it doesn’t always happen, so sometimes we just have to eat frozen pizza. Everything in moderation, right? You can expect new posts most Tuesdays and Thursdays – mostly people food, but also some dog-friendly recipes every once and awhile!
Can I make you something to eat? Maybe a drink? We will have to do this virtually, which is probably better for you, because Emmy won’t leave you alone if you’re a woman/man/child/animal/leaf.
We hope Emmy brightens up your day the same way she brightens ours!
